Meet the Placas!

        Family                                  Brotherhood

       Loyalty                                    Respect

                             Justice

Pledge: "to love my family, to do my duty in seeking justice, to live my life under the eyes of God, and to honor the club and what it represents with integrity and loyalty".

There are motorcycle clubs and there are motorcycle clubs, and then there are the "Placas Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LEMC)". Placas means "badges" in case anyone is guessing. While this motorcycle group is fairly new, they take their pledge and motto very seriously.
Founder Santiago "Blowout" Gamez, who is also "El Presidente", started the club when he moved to Eagle Pass and found that no clubs existed that he could relate and contribute to. After speaking to his family, and specifically his beautiful daughter, Ms. Isabella, it was Isabela who suggested that he start his own group. It was also Ms. Isabella who came up with the logo "Bellathemis", which means "beautiful Goddess of Justice". "Blowout" was also tired of the bad stereotyping that "Bikers" usually get.
As one can tell from the pictures below, the club does its share for charity including the "Toys for Tots" program, "Relay for Life", scholarships for students in the area, help provide fans to the needy in the hot summer months, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and especially donating to needy families during the holidays.

And they have some beautiful motorcycles:

According to "Blowout", "We're all brothers - we just wear different colors". Currently there are three chapters, one in Eagle Pass, Del Rio, one in Austin, and there is a fourth chapter being planned for Demin, NM.  The "wings" in the logo represent motorcycles, the "scales" represent "the justice we seek", the red, "the blood we have shed", and the blue represents "law enforcement". Their numbers are climbing, which include women and firemen, and on an State and National level.

The Club's Motto"Brothers at Arms through Truth, Honesty, and Integrity", serves them well and as this here editor can attest to, they're a great bunch of guys and gals, who represent the finest in law enforcement and we commend them for their efforts and passion. TIMM
